Studio Christchurch is a collaborative Christchurch based research and design unit focused on praxis oriented outcomes with the intention to produce meaningful investigations and design propositions to contribute to the development of the city.

An additional aim is to enhance the international profile of architectural education in New Zealand for both the undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Studio Christchurch creates a focused unit with a shared agenda and is a unique opportunity to build on the existing close relationships amongst the schools and the profession. The purpose is to produce highly influential outcomes that both appeal to the local discourse shaping Christchurch as well as gain international recognition. Studio Christchurch is set up to foster the impact of New Zealand architecture and Architectural education on a global level through data collection, design propositions and the realisation of projects.

CHCH SUMMER SCHOOL is a unique opportunity for students to join a New Zealand inter-school research and design unit in Christchurch. The summer session will run from the 7th of January to the 1st of February and is open to students entering either the third or fourth year. There will be five design studios and approximately seventy students coming from four schools of architecture: The School of Architectural Studies at CPIT, The School of Architecture at Victoria University Wellington, The Architecture Department at Unitec, and The School of Architecture and Planning at The University of Auckland.
